Our Coaching Mentorship Program is designed to provide aspiring fitness professionals with the hands-on experience, tools, and knowledge necessary to excel in the fitness industry. Mentorship with Ken Graack:
Under the mentorship of Ken Graack, who has over 40 years of lifting and coaching experience, you'll dive deep into coaching fundamentals. Ken's expertise in lifting techniques, program design, and client communication will give you the practical knowledge needed to become an effective coach, capable of training clients at American Strength and beyond.

Ideal for Students:

Our program is also tailored to meet the needs of students pursuing degrees in Exercise and Sports Science. If your curriculum requires a practicum or internship for school credit, this mentorship offers the perfect opportunity to complete your hours while gaining direct, real-life coaching experience. Many interns have completed 50+ hours of in-person shadowing and practical training at our facility, fulfilling their academic requirements and gaining crucial professional experience in the process.

What You’ll Learn and Experience:

This structured, multi-phase program will guide you through the entire coaching process, ensuring you develop into a knowledgeable and confident fitness professional.

Observation and Shadowing

  • Shadow Ken during client sessions to understand session flow, form correction, and real-time feedback.

  • Learn the foundational techniques of strength training and the importance of mobility in enhancing performance.

Hands-On Training

  • Start applying learned concepts in sessions, focusing on lifting techniques, form correction, and client engagement.

  • Explore mobility training and its role in long-term athletic performance and injury prevention.

Practical Application

  • Take a more active role in leading training sessions, applying principles of program design and client progression.

  • Learn to craft individualized training plans tailored to client goals and performance metrics.

Supervised Coaching Practicum

  • Lead your own client sessions with Ken’s guidance, receiving real-time feedback on your coaching style, communication, and session management.

  • Develop key communication skills to effectively motivate clients, set goals, and drive progress.

Independent Coaching

  • Move toward independently managing client sessions, from warm-ups to full workout programming.

  • Refine your coaching techniques, gain confidence in handling multiple client needs, and begin to create your own training strategies.
